No.16 CMO goes TECH meetup! February 23rd, 17:00 CET!

Are you ready for a CMO goes TECH night with interesting speakers and good conversations with your peers? – It’s time for our 16th CMO goes Tech event where we’ll talk about how to win new business by building a sustainable and purpose-driven brand.

The invitation will be sent out to members only on February 9th! Not a member yet? – Sign up for free to receive the invitation!

A 2021 Deloitte study came to the conclusion that businesses need to plan for ways they can make their products more sustainable while building accountability into their value chain. Fast forward to 2022 and that sentiment has only grown as purpose-driven brands are winning the race. Consumers care about more than just what products or services are – they care about what kind of impact brands are making in the world. Therefore, it might be a good idea to find a sense of purpose that your audience truly connects to. But is it really that easy? What does it take for a brand to appeal to a growing, socially conscious audience? And what are the pitfalls to avoid?

We’ve invited representatives from companies that know a great deal about this!

Doconomy provides leading impact data services for individuals and corporations to help educate, engage and reduce environmental impact. Its CEO Mathias Wikström is a Sweden-based sustainability business leader and creative strategist who is the co-founder of Doconomy together with Johan Pihl and spearheaded other globally awarded forefront projects in Finance, Sustainability, and Human Rights. Mathias has won a Grand Prix at Cannes Lions for the past three years.

In 2008, Max Burgers became the world's first restaurant chain to climate label the menu and climate compensate all emissions to 100 percent – from the farmer's land to the guest's table. Fast-forward to 2018 and MAX is the first food company – in the world – to be climate positive. And they haven’t slowed down since. Kaj Török, Chief Sustainability Officer at MAX Burgers will talk about how MAX changed its business model to help save the world – and how your organization can do the same! Kaj has repeatedly been named as one of Sweden’s 100 top influential people on green issues.

We’ve also invited Maria Wetterstrand, CEO at Miltton Europe, former leader of the Swedish Green Party Miljöpartiet and member of parliament who will cover upcoming EU directives and laws against greenwashing marketing. Established in 2015, Miltton Europe is the European advisory arm of Miltton Group, one of the leading consultancies in the Nordic region. Their mission is to help companies, institutions, and organizations to understand and navigate the European policy environment while promoting their ideas and policy solutions across the continent.

Finally, we'll be able to meet and mingle with other members at a Stockholm city location to be announced soon. Limited seats so secure your seat now! (You can also attend via Teams).

The summary from the 15th meetup - Phygital experiences

On our 15th CMO goes Tech event; “Phygital Experiences”, we talked about the future of great customer experience (Physical + Digital) together with Nils Rydén from Polestar and Mattias Schedvin from Workshop! The event was held at a truly inspiring venue; Next Gen Retail Hub. Thank you for having us!

While most customers expect companies to accelerate digital initiatives there are certainly more opportunities than ever before for customers to connect to businesses in a whole new way. And sometimes the new is the old; in-store interactions!

Here are the key takeaways from the evening:

  • Polestar doesn’t push sales in-store. Instead the consumer choose when and where to want to make their purchase. And always on their own device

  • The physical store has all the ingredients to play a role as a Media Scene, sharing the experience outside the walls of the store. Physical retail can be used to show your brand story

  • You should build your brand to secure confidence and digital conversion

  • Provide an analog option in your digital customer journey

  • Be distinct and act big. That’s the easiest way to win the game!

  • Don’t do tech, do consumer experience!

  • The physical store is a connection point and should be a fully integrated part of your echo system

  • The physical store can only compete with its digital counterpart by offering unique experiences

  • An experience always involves an interaction between two parts

  • Reinvented retail concepts mean reinvented KPIs with a holistic approach such as Halo sales effects, social engagements and NPS

  • The experience pyramid = Transformative | Meaningful | Memorable | Entertaining

  • Experience dimensions = Brand & Product Experience | Personalised Experience | Purposeful Engagement | Effortless Journey

Don’t miss our next event in February!

Until then, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year!

Phygital experiences - 15th CMO goes TECH event

It’s time for our 15th CMO goes Tech event where we’ll talk Phygital! And finally, we’ll get to meet in person!

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is creating new ways for people to interact with the world around them, which means that there are more opportunities than ever before for customers to connect to businesses in a whole new way! 88% of customers expect companies to accelerate digital initiatives and there are many successful companies that meet these rising customer expectations with relevant and personalized interactions across all kinds of devices, channels, and in-store interactions. In this context many claim that the future of great customer experience is Phygital (Physical and Digital)!

We’ve invited Nils Rylén, Head of Global Marketing Communications & Marketing Sweden at Polestar, and Mattias Schedvin, Senior Retail Strategist, at WorkShop - The Consumer Experience Agency to share their “Phygital” experiences with us from the stage!

Venue: Next Gen Retail hub is made for the innovators and companies that are driving and creating solutions for the next generation of retail. This space is a creation from WorkShop, which has a strong history in retail and knows that it takes a group of visionaries to create a strong vision for the future. That's where the Next Gen Retail Hub comes in. We wanted to create a space where we can all thrive, share knowledge, inspire, and push each other to create the next level of shopper and brand experiences.

Date & Time: Thursday, December 9, 2021, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Martech Report 2021 - Released on September 24th (Copy)

We have released this year's MarTech Report - the fourth in a row - where marketing executives have been given their views on challenges, priorities, lessons learned and how investments have developed their business.

During the survey, our respondents requested examples and in-depth information on how companies work with Martech in practice.

Mathem, Kjell & Company, TUI and Joolz will therefore share their best Martech tips!

On September 24th, we presented the new report, a summary of the results from surveys and interviews with Marketing- and CRM managers and persons responsible for communication in both B2B and B2C segments.

CMO goes TECH are proud to present this report, which has been produced in collaboration with SWEDMA, Wiraya and Odyssey.

The report is in Swedish this year due to the focus on the Swedish market.
